| TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff Professional Richard Sterne Plays TP Red Golf Ball with LDP Technology to Win Alfred Dunhill Championship |
 |
TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff Professional Tim Clark Wins the Australian Open
CARLSBAD, Calif. (December 15, 2008) – TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff Professional Richard Sterne clinched his fourth career professional European Tour win, after a three-under par effort for a 17-under overall total of 271 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Clark shot a final round five-under 67 at Royal Sydney and prevailed in a playoff over fellow TMaG staffer Matthew Goggin.
Sterne trusted his No. 29 TaylorMade® TP Red™ golf ball with Low-Drag Performance (LDP) and the rest of his TaylorMade equipment to find 68% of his fairways (Ranked 2nd) and 82% of his greens in regulation (Ranked 5th).*
With TaylorMade's "MY TP Ball" program, golfers have the opportunity to customize their own TaylorMade TP Red and TP Black™ golf balls by emblazoning a one or two-digit number of their choosing, anything from 00 to 99. Sterne plays No. 29 because it is the lowest nine-hole score he has carded as a pro.
The win moves Sterne into the top-five in The Race to Dubai.
TaylorMade Tour staff professionals have now won three of the first four 2009 European Tour events. Garcia, No. 2 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and Rod Pampling used the r7® Limited driver as well as the new Tour Preferred® irons in victories at the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai and the Sportsbet Australian Masters.
Featuring a modern new head shape, the r7 Limited incorporates Movable Weight Technology™ (MWT®) to promote 35 yards of side-to-side trajectory change – the most of any r7 driver. The shape, feel and sound of the r7 Limited have made it immediately popular among tour pros, while its highly effective application of MWT appeals widely to players who prefer the ability to adjust their equipment to promote increased distance and accuracy.

| Nike Golf Creates a Transformational New Driver for Golfers who Want to Control Their Own Destiny off the Tee – Just Like the Pros Do |
 |
- Nike’s STR8-FIT Technology, the First of its Kind, is Already a Multiple Winner on the PGA Tour -
BEAVERTON, Ore. (December 15, 2008) – Nike Golf continues to make accessible to consumers the same game-changing technology that is used by its talented group of athletes on the professional tours. The latest and most exciting representation of this is Nike’s groundbreaking STR8-FIT (pronounced “straight fit”) technology found in Nike’s new SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² (square-shape) STR8-FIT drivers, available on April 1, 2009. A choice of eight club head positions that can dramatically or subtly perfect ball flight makes the SQ Dymo STR8-FIT the first of its kind in the market place.
Nike’s new STR8-FIT driver technology provides golfers with the opportunity to hit the ball longer and straighter by changing the head position. Simple changes can be made before their round to dramatically correct their ball flight or subtly perfect it through the selection of eight unique head positions from open to close with one club, eliminating the use of multiple shafts and movable weights. This is a new and unique way for each individual consumer to control their own game, much like the Nike Tour athletes use the Nike Tour Van at tournament site prior to a round to adapt their equipment for the day’s round. For example, if a golfer is pushing, fading or slicing the ball too much and they wish to draw the ball or hit more to the left for a particular course set up, they can change the position of their clubface to a more closed position. If a golfer is hooking, pulling or drawing the ball more than they wish, they can manually change the clubface to a more open position. Club face angles range from a neutral position of zero degrees to both one and two degrees closed or open.
Nike’s STR8-FIT technology already has had Tour-proven success. Throughout the 2008 PGA Tour season, it was consistently used as a prototype by Nike Golf athletes and the results spoke for themselves. Nike’s Trevor Immelman captured his first major championship victory at The Masters using the technology. Also winning with STR8-FIT were Nike athletes K.J. Choi, who was the first to win with it in January, 2008 at the Sony Open; and Anthony Kim, who won the Wachovia Championship and the AT&T Classic.
“I have worked on a number of great products in my time, but never has there been a product that allows a golfer to “change” his or her results so quickly and effectively,” said Tom Stites, Nike Golf’s Director of Club Creation. “The new SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT drivers allow the golfer to change the face and shaft relationship up to plus/minus 2˚ for face angle, loft and lie. Nothing influences ball flight more than face, loft and lie angles. This is significant because it means that if a player normally hits the ball far right or left, there is at least one of the eight locations of STR8-FIT that will allow him or her to hit in or near the fairway. And straight equals greater distance.”
The SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT drivers, available in round and square versions, feature a simple STR8-FIT shaft adapter built into the hosel giving golfers access to eight different head positions resulting in eight different shot shapes. Through the magic of this simple technology, golfers now are empowered to control their ball flight by manually selecting face and lie angles in one simple shaft and club head position.
Through comprehensive testing on the range with the SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT drivers, test results revealed 45 yards difference between the maximum left and maximum right positions. That means that this club offers a great deal of ball flight change. Players now have the power to significantly alter their ball flight by simply changing the face position, which is easy to manipulate manually. To adapt the head positions, the player will use a torque wrench, which is located in the headcover that comes with each SQ DYMO STR8-FIT driver. When the head position is “locked in,” a sound indicator and light on the wrench goes off to ensure that the club is ready to be hit.
INSPIRED BY NIKE GOLF ATHLETES ON THE PGA TOUR – (Already three victories with STR8-FIT Prototype in 2008)
The creation of STR8-FIT technology was inspired by how Nike Golf Tour athletes set up their equipment to suit each tournament’s course. On the PGA Tour, Nike Golf athletes have the luxury of utilizing the Nike Tour Van, where a staff of Nike club experts can adjust each Nike athlete’s driver to the face and lie angle that they want to perform their best on any given week. This same concept is now being made available to consumers through the STR8-FIT’s wide range of choices in shot shaping with one shaft, one club head, one club.
When Nike Golf athlete Immelman won his first major championship title at The Masters tournament on Augusta National, he decided to use a non-straight driver in his bag. Immelman chose a 1˚ closed-face setup on his Nike SQ driver because he wanted to slightly draw the ball. The result of this subtle adjustment as he navigated Augusta’s primarily draw layout was 48 out of 56 drives in the fairway.
The standard shaft option is Nike Golf’s UST Proforce AXIV Core, which features a strengthening core material that provides an extremely stable environment at impact, making it easier to swing the club faster and remain in complete control of the club head at all times. Custom shafts are also available.
Availability: April 1, 2009 at golf shops and specialty stores across the U.S. Men’s: Loft Options 8.5 (RH), 9.5 (RH/LH), 10.5 (RH/LH), 11.5 (RH/LH), HL (RH) Women’s : Loft Options 11.5 (RH/LH), HL (RH) MSRP: $540.00

| Miura Golf — "Series 1957" A Blade Putter and a Classic Design Putter |
 |
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Japanese golf-club manufacturer Miura Golf-which has been making the world's highest-quality forged irons for 43 years - announces the introduction of two putter models to its 2009 product line. Each putter will form part of Miura Golf's Series 1957. Series 1957 will be a collection of Miura products which will reflect Mr. Miura's commitment to producing the absolute finest golf equipment. 1957 represents the year in which Mr. Miura began his career in the golf business and his pursuit of the perfect set of irons.
First off the line will be two new putters. The KM 350 is a classic Blade model while the MP 005 and MP 006 offer a traditional design familiar to most golfers. Miura's Series 1957 putters confirm that it is possible to match looks with performance. Miura putters all undergo the same forging process as the Miura irons. Each model's milled face is extremely forgiving resulting in unequaled feel and distance control. The forgiveness at impact also reduces skid, resulting in a truer roll of the ball. The Miura craftsmanship is evident in these new toe-weighted offset putters, which each feature a classic oiled-chrome finish that complements each putter's soft visual features.
"The Series 1957 putters were designed for players seeking the very best," says Katsuhiro Miura, Miura Golf Inc.'s 66-year-old founder and director of manufacturing and product development at his manufacturing facilities in Himeji, Japan.
"We're very excited about these new putters," says Miura Golf Vice President Bill Holowaty. "Katsuhiro Miura is a master craftsman and his putters are works of art that feature looks and technology that will boost confidence and help golfers feel the ball and roll their putts more smoothly and, consequently, improve their scores."
Besides the new putter models, Miura Golf's current product line also includes Blade (Tournament Blade Model); MC-102 (Standard Cavity Model); CB-202 (Cavity Back Model) and CB 301 (Progressive Cavity Back ) irons; and Wedges (Wedge Series and Black Wedge Series, each available in six lofts).

 |
PLANO, TEXAS, December 9, 2008 – The 2008 PGA Tour season began with Adams Golf at the top of the hybrid count at the first tournament of the year, the Mercedes Championship in Hawaii, and 39 tournaments, including four major championships later, Adams Golf remained at the top as the hybrid leader on tour.
It was a banner year for the company with over 1,400 of its Idea hybrids having been played by the best players in the world. Adams Golf hybrids accounted for 31% of all hybrids in play this year, according to the Darrell Survey Equipment Count, compared to 23% by the next closest competitor, and 9% by the third place company.
Never before had Adams Golf led the hybrid count at any major championship, but that changed this season as Idea hybrids topped the hybrid counts at the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship. Adding to the company’s accomplishments were the 14 tournament champions, including the FedEx Cup Champion, who played Adams Golf hybrids en route to their victories.
#1 Hybrid at PGA Tour Q-School With 75 Idea hybrids in play at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, Adams Golf dominated the hybrid count at this very important and grueling six-round event. | Grafalloy Launches New ProLaunch Axis Series |
 |
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Number One Ultralite Shaft on Tour, Grafalloy® has unveiled the next generation in the high-performance ProLaunch Series of graphite shafts. The all-new ProLaunch Axis shaft series combines Grafalloy’s tour-proven Micro-Mesh Tip Design with the Smart-Ply™ Technology which debuted in Grafalloy’s highly acclaimed Axis shaft.
“We’re proud to launch our new ProLaunch Axis graphite shafts. The integration of these two unique technologies makes this series among the most sophisticated shafts available on the golf market today,” says Don Brown, product development manager for Grafalloy. ”The Micro-Mesh Tip enhances stability and spin control and the Smart-Ply fiber orientation optimizes shaft reliability during the swing and through impact, maximizing energy transfer, power and tour-proven accuracy.”
Smart-Ply Technology utilizes ultra-thin layers of unidirectional graphite material in cross shaft orientations to stabilize the golf shaft, increasing the efficiency in energy transfer from the golfer to the ball and reduces off plane bending to keep the head on line for increased accuracy. Smart-Ply positions the fibers in Grafalloy Axis along six separate axes — more than twice as many as traditional shaft designs.
Brown explains Smart-Ply provides a significant improvement over other material technologies used for stabilization, such as ‘trendy’ weaves. Traditional box weaves are bulky and distort the fibers, reducing their effectiveness by up to 40 percent. Newer quadaxial weaves, while attractive and lighter weight, possess only a fraction of the stabilizing fiber volume of Smart-Ply and often utilize glass fibers, which are far softer than graphite.
While many manufacturers tout the benefits of weaves, Grafalloy Director of Composites Neal Haas adds that the Smart-Ply engineering actually generates greater benefits in high-performance shafts.
“Weaves are aesthetically attractive and provide the appearance of being high-performance, but they are actually quite ineffective when compared to Smart-Ply,” says Haas. “When first introduced, the original Axis was Grafalloy’s longest-driving shaft design and current testing shows the addition of Axis technology to the ProLaunch family provides the same performance boost.”
Now available, Grafalloy ProLaunch Axis Red and Blue provides the launch conditions the golfing world has come to expect from the ProLaunch family with the increased performance of an Axis shaft. The ProLaunch Axis Red shaft creates a boring, penetrating ball flight, while ProLaunch Axis Blue maximizes distance for players seeking higher launch angles. The sub-60 gram Blue series will be available in Regular, Senior, Stiff and Extra-Stiff flexes while the 63-gram Red while be available in R-X flexes. MSRP $150.

| Nike’s Winningest SQ Driver Franchise Adds the New SQ Dymo Drivers to Further Spark its Winning Streak on the PGA Tour |
 |
-New SQ DYMO is First Generation of Custom-Tuned Drivers-
BEAVERTON, Ore. (December 8, 2008) – Nike Golf is introducing the newest and most exciting additions yet to its hugely successful SasQuatch (SQ) driver franchise. The new SQ DYMO and the SQ DYMO² drivers represent the first generation of custom-tuned drivers within the SQ family which, over the past three years, has undeniably established itself as the winningest driver brand on the PGA Tour. Having led the Tour with the most driver wins in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and totaling 40 victories during that time period (nearest competitor had 31), Nike Golf is aspiring to continue its PGA Tour dominance with this new introduction. Both drivers will be available on February 1, 2009.
The idea of DYMO technology originated from the Nike Golf athletes on the PGA Tour, who work with the knowledgeable members of Nike’s staff in its Tour Van to custom tune their drivers for maximum performance. DYMO technology represents “Dynamic Moment of Inertia,” which means that the CG location, Nike PowerBow size, head size, lie angle and MOI have been optimized and performance-matched to each respective available loft for more distance and better performance.
“We’ve taken the MOI concept to greater detail by varying each clubhead to match the performance level of any player,” said Tom Stites, Director Club Creation for Nike Golf. “Every loft has a different shape, PowerBow, center of gravity placement, face height and face angle. The geometry in the DYMO allows us to deliver the optimal scenario for every player. In other words, it’s like a Tour Van on a stick.”
Customized Power Bow Weighting
Nike Golf’s proprietary PowerBow Weighting is optimized in each loft option to help produce the shot-enhancing performance demanded by all players. The PowerBow Weighting is smallest in the lower lofted 9.5-degree model and features a higher face, with a more forward center of gravity to promote a more penetrating trajectory with less spin. The higher lofted 10.5, 11.5 and 13-degree models see the weight gradually increasing in size, moving the center of gravity further and lower back from a slightly shallower face to create progressively higher launch angles and higher spin rates. This combination produces the ideal balance of carry and roll for greater overall distance for each and every loft. In each loft, the lie angle goes up in increments of one degree, from 60 degrees in the 9.5-degree loft option, to 63 degrees in the HL (13 degrees) model, which helps to keep drives both long and straight.
So whatever the swing speed, angle of attack, launch angle or preferred shot shape, the SQ DYMO’S tuned clubhead specifications provide maximum performance for every loft.
Varying Head Shapes to Suit Any Player’s Game
The SQ DYMO drivers are available in two game-enhancing head geometries. The straight-hitting, square-shaped SQ Dymo² has weight placed deep into the corners of the clubhead to offer exceptional stability and forgiveness, to help get the ball airborne with ease and power, while the rounder outline of the SQ Dymo delivers square mass in a more traditional head shape, and provides more precise feel and control, offering players the ability to work the ball in any direction.
Wider Shaft – Narrower Dispersion
Both models are fitted with Nike Golf’s proprietary UST Wide Body Shaft with an AXIV Core. This shaft features a larger overall diameter throughout the body, to provide more stability through impact for the specific moment of inertia characteristics of each loft-tuned head, while the AXIV Core provides the tip stiffness required for optimum power transfer.
Availability: February 2009 at golf shops and specialty stores across the U.S.
Men’s loft options: 8.5 – X,S,R,A (RH); 9.5 – X,S,R,A (RH/LH); 10.5 - X,S,R,A (RH/LH), 11.5 – X,S,R,A (RH);13 HL – X,S,R,A (RH): MSRP: $360.00
Women’s loft options: 11.5 – W (RH); 13 HL - W (RH): MSRP: $360.00
